O WELT!

MAiSCHA - Early music ensemble
War and disasters, death and the devil, confusion and despair have always been omnipresent on our planet. The longing for freedom and peace is great. What can give us harmony and hope? What gives us the strength to continue striving for joie de vivre and vitality? Is it faith? Is it love? Is it friendship, family, or a moment of happiness?
Musically, we span a wide range from Armenian liturgy to early Baroque madrigals by Heinrich Isaac and Hans Leo Haßler, whose melodies are known today from Bach chorales, short arias from operas by Henry Purcell or Christoph Willibald Gluck, to the art song by Komitas, which is based on Armenian folk music and was long passed down only orally. Accompanied by selected poems, we—five musicians with roots in Armenia, Germany, England, Italy, and Iran—narrate an emotional rollercoaster ride through the moods of a constantly changing world.

Herzschmerz & Herzensfreude

Solo program by Helen Ispirian
The program was created with a lot of passion; it is a colorful mix of early to late Baroque, with European sacred and secular music framed by two Armenian songs.
